Notta Bot in your meeting: what it is and how to remove it

Notta Bot is the participant Notta sends into Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Webex calls to record and transcribe them. A Notta user invites it by pasting the meeting link or lets it auto-join from their calendar. The host can remove it from the participant list, and if nobody admits it within 5 minutes it is removed automatically. Checked 25 Sep 2026.

How does Notta Bot get into a meeting?

Two ways. A Notta user pastes the meeting link into Notta, or connects Google or Outlook calendar and turns on auto-join — for all events, internal meetings only or external meetings only, with keyword lists that include or exclude meetings by title (Notta help). With a waiting room or lobby on, it has to be admitted; in Zoom the host also gets a request to let it record.

When does Notta Bot leave on its own?

  • Nobody admits it within 5 minutes.
  • No other participants are left in the meeting.
  • It reaches the 5-hour recording limit.

Can Notta Bot have a different name?

On paid plans, in Zoom, Teams and Webex. In Google Meet a custom name may not apply, and the bot may still show as “Notta Bot” (Notta help). Notta’s settings also include a recording notification poster shown to all participants and an option that posts a note in the meeting chat when the bot starts recording.

How do you remove Notta Bot from a meeting?

Notta’s own instructions: End the recording in Notta, or remove it from the participant list; if the host does not admit it within 5 minutes, it is removed automatically. On the platform side:

Remove Notta Bot in Zoom

If the meeting is over, End meeting for all also ends Notta's recording, per Notta's own help page.

  1. Host or co-host: open Participants, hover over the bot, click More and choose Remove. A removed participant can't rejoin unless you allow participants to rejoin. Zoom support
  2. Or choose Put in waiting room from the same menu to hold it outside the call. Zoom support

Keep Notta Bot out of the next Zoom meeting

  1. Turn on the waiting room for "Users not in your account" or "Users not on the meeting invite", and admit people one by one. Zoom support
  2. Turn on "Only authenticated users can join meetings" (Settings › Meeting › Security), or "Require authentication to join" for one meeting. Zoom support
  3. Account owners and admins can block users authenticated with specific domains from joining meetings the account hosts. Zoom support

These settings filter by account, invitation and domain. None of the Zoom pages above describes recognising a bot as a bot, so a bot that is on the invite can still pass them.

Remove Notta Bot in Google Meet

In Meet, Notta Bot is listed among the contributors in the People panel.

  1. Open People, click More options next to the bot and choose Remove from the call. While it is still asking to join, choose Deny. Google Meet Help

Keep Notta Bot out of the next Google Meet meeting

  1. Set the meeting access type to Restricted and turn off "Anyone can ask to join": "third-party bots, like note takers, that attempt to use 'Ask to join' are automatically denied". Google Workspace Learning Center

Restricted still lets in anyone invited through the Google Calendar event, so a bot whose address is on the invitation is not stopped by it. Take that address off the invite first.

Remove Notta Bot in Microsoft Teams

In Teams, Notta Bot joins as a guest: "Notta Bot (Guest)".

  1. Organizer or presenter: open Participants, click More options next to the bot and choose Remove from meeting. Otter help center

Keep Notta Bot out of the next Microsoft Teams meeting

  1. Teams detects many external bots and holds them in the lobby until someone admits them — whatever the lobby setting. This is the default ("When detected, require approval before joining"); admins set it with ExternalBotAccessMode. Microsoft Learn
  2. Let only organizers and co-organizers admit people from the lobby, so a presenter can't let a bot in by mistake. Microsoft Learn

Microsoft says some external bots may not be detected, and a detected bot still gets in once someone admits it: the documented default holds bots in the lobby, it does not block them.
