Export Otter Transcripts to Text, Word or Notes

Drop the .txt Otter gives you — get clean text, a Word file or the meeting’s notes.

.txt, .srt or .docx from Otter — or paste the text

Cleaning runs in your browser. The file is not uploaded.

On Otter’s free Basic plan a conversation exports only as TXT: open it, click the three dots, choose Export and pick TXT. Paid plans add DOCX, PDF and SRT, and Business and Enterprise export many conversations at once as a ZIP. Drop the .txt, .srt or .docx here to get clean text with the speaker names, a Word file, or the summary and action items of that meeting.

What You Get: an Example

Input — Otter’s .txt export (Roadmap Sync_otter_ai.txt, timestamps and speaker names on)

Nadia Brooks 0:00
Thanks for joining. Today I want to walk through the roadmap for the next quarter and agree on what ships first, because the mobile release and the reporting work both want the same two engineers.

Speaker 1 0:41
Um, from the support side the reporting work matters more. Customers ask for the weekly export every single day, and we answer those tickets by hand.

Nadia Brooks 1:12
Then reporting goes first. Can you send me the three most common export requests by Friday?

Frequently Asked Questions

Because on Otter’s Basic (free) plan the export is TXT only, or copy to the clipboard; Pro, Business, Enterprise get TXT, DOCX, PDF and SRT; audio as MP3. The .txt is all this page needs: drop it here and download a Word (.docx) file with the speaker names in bold.

Business and Enterprise plans only — tick the conversations (Select all ticks only those already loaded), click the Export icon, and Otter emails a link to a ZIP. On other plans, export the conversations one by one. This page converts one file at a time — open the ZIP and drop each .txt.

The summary exports separately (Export icon → summary sections, web and desktop only); the Outline and Action Items cannot be exported as a file on their own — copy them. To have the notes written from the transcript instead, click "Get the summary & action items" under the result. The text — not the file — is sent to write the summary, decisions, action items and a follow-up email. The first set of notes is free with no account, for up to 60,000 characters (about an hour of speech).

Keep Show speaker names and Show timestamps on: the times can be removed here, but names left out cannot be put back. Combine all paragraphs merges every turn into one block and loses who spoke. Otter’s dialog offers: Show speaker names, Show timestamps, Show highlights, Show images, Combine paragraphs of the same speaker, Combine all paragraphs; Remove Otter branding for TXT and clipboard.

Not for the conversion: the text is read and cleaned by JavaScript in your browser tab. Only if you ask for notes is the text sent, to write them. MeetWave doesn't store the text you paste. It is sent to our AI processing provider only to write your notes, isn't used to train models, and isn't kept by MeetWave after the answer arrives.

Yes. The page reads the layout — names, times, the Otter line at the end — not the words, so a transcript in Spanish, French or any other language converts the same way, accented names included.

No — PDFs aren’t read here. Export the conversation again as TXT (every plan) or DOCX (paid plans) and drop that file instead.
